Just a friendly reminder that we have our VtM Game this weekend May 3rd 2008 at Stevens Hall on the SSU campus! Come check us out!

Shadow's Crossing
Vampire the Masquerade LARP

Things with fangs come out to feed, when night's curtain ere doth fall.
Beastie things, with glowing eyes, that roar, and snarl and all.
Silence is the rule of night, 'cept snapping twigs and such.
For darkness hides the claws of death, that rip and tear and clutch.
Yes, none but fools dare venture out, when the world turns dark and cold.
For those who do, shall never return, no matter how brave or bold.
So say your prayers and go to bed, it will save your life and soul.
For those who do, are safe from harm, and live on to grow graciously old.

Bed Time ~Flying John

1st and 3rd Saturday of the month
If it weren't for the creative guys at Tactical Studies Rules (TSR) I doubt we'd have the extensive fantasy- and mythology-based literature and games which are so popular and financially successful today.

Rest well, Gary.

Hello, I'm Seamus and I usually game in the CA area. Although I'm currently out of the country for the next several months, I would like to make an offer to anyone who is interested. I know fluent Arabic and a great deal about the Middle East, enough to hold a job overseas as a contractor and cultural and language expert. So anyone with a character or anyone who is just interested, ask me a question and I'll try to reply promptly.

Shadow's Crossing, Santa Rosa, CA

Hello everyone,

I want to formally invite you to our first Character creation night for our new game, Shadows Crossing. As a good HST I wouldn't want to just feed you to the wolves without giving you an opportunity to make it out.

A little background on our story thus far:

Since the fall of the Domain of Humbolt to the Garou, Sonoma County, a new domain founded by the disposed Prince of Humbolt, has been on the brink of lawlessness. The Garou were nearly successful at their attempt to destroy every prominent member of the Domain of Humbolt. Only a few were able to escape their claws. The Scourge of the domain was able to keep several of them at bay while the Prince, a Malkavian elder, and the Sheriff, a Gangrel, made their escape to Sonoma County. The Scourge, thought to be lost to the Garou, later met up with the surviving Prince and Sheriff near Windsor.

His Highness took refuge in Santa Rosa and claimed the territory in the name of the Camarilla. Though kindred of the Ivory Tower have repopulated the area, all is not calm. Since the claim of the Prince, there have been questions regarding whether or not the Prince is fit to serve and keep the interests of the Camarilla safe from the encroaching flea filled vermin that are the Garou.

In more recent nights, the Baron of Vallejo and a few of his party, have come into the domain to "talk" with the Prince. More and more, the Anarchs are showing in force at the sporadic court gathers the Prince has called and have even mustered enough courage to attend gathers off of Elysium. Further, as is the lot of Kindred, there have been stirrings and rumors abound.

"Why are they allowed here?"

"How have they managed to stay for so long?"

"What exactly is the Prince thinking?"

The true story can only be revealed in time.

---
Please be welcome to our new game and join in on our character creation nights:

December 22nd
December 29th

January 5th
January 12th

All of the character creation nights will be held at the Round Table in Rohnert Park. See below for directions.

Our first game will be held:

January 19th at Stevenson Hall at Sonoma State University

There will be a token of the storyteller's gratitude as an added benefit to those who come to the character creation nights and the first two months of game.

Have a great night and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Meridian Fest Beta Test

To Fellow Larpers and Gamers,

We would like to inform you that the Meridian Fest as been postponed until 2007, please see the website, www.meridianfest.com, for more information.

However, we would like to extend this personal invitation to you to join us in a smaller scale test version of Meridian. Many of you in the local LARP community have not only expressed interest in Meridian but have been excited about the prospect of meeting other LARPers in different areas. Many of us enjoyed the new friendships and experiences by meeting each other at the LARPy awards held a few months ago. One thing the LARPy awards did prove was we are a strong community and we enjoy learning from and growing together to strengthening that bond.

Please keep the original dates for Meridian, Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1-4) free, we will be running the Beta Test at that time since we have the time reserved in much of our planning, however due to the "scaled down" version we need to change location and will not have vendors. This run through is to check the system and familiarize folks with the rules and basically play a demo of the world, you know, a Beta Test. That said we are running a plot line for participants to get involved, we are still having guild leaders present and the world will begin to evolve "in game", you and others like yourself, will be the first to break ground in the Meridian world.

The Beta Test price will be $36. This will help cover site cost, food for Saturday night and Sunday morning as well as “in game” currency. Specific to this event, participants will be receiving extra starting money to help “pay” for in game food and beverages. Booking for the Beta Test will be available on line, some time this week. There is a limited amount of space available so bookings are on a first come first serve basis.

It is our expectation to run this game more in line with a typical LARP game/event in order for cast and participants to not only test the system but flesh out characters, role play within the world and participate in a full gaming experience. We are trying to maintain much of the integrity of the original idea of Meridian, so all the rules and regulations still apply unless otherwise noted. That said, we encourage participants to bring and set up period tents, however we will have an “out of game” area for mundane tents to set up. There will also be a tavern where you can redeem your extra starting coins for your Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. The tavern will also have various snacks and drinks throughout the weekend, as well as possibly in game period tents to “rent a room”.

Please let us know if you and your LARP group would be interested in participating. Please send us an email at, meridianlarp@gmail.com, subject: Beta Test.

Thank you for your support, looking forward to hearing from you!

What games are everybody currently participating in?
The only one I'm playing in at the moment is the one nearest me (that I'm aware of), and is held on UCLA campus:
www.lasangre.org
I'm hoping to start one in Claremont once I get my books out of storage, which I'm planning on making a multi-genre LARP in the original WoD (Masquerade, not Requiem). It will be set in the southern German town of Durlach starting in the late 17th Century and will be based on a local legend.

I will admit that I have not played in too many LARPs. NERO and SOLRZ are fine. but I dislike the combat
systems. I prefer a Target system of combat.
Now recruiting for players here in Charlotte, NC......will be difficult. Is it difficult to find players in your Games?

I've received enough replies to postings and e-mails that I felt confident in setting up a small web site regarding my national/international LARP award idea. If you're interested in this project please drop by that web site. There is more information there and ways that you can voice your opinion and participate in the creation of these awards.

Isles starts Season Two!

sles starts Season Two!
(The Isles is located in Central Massachusetts)

The Isles Await You!

The heart-world of the mighty Hardestann Empire, a Kingdom that spans the Isles, has discovered its ninth and most auspicious Isle yet- Asylum.

It is an idyllic garden of peace and tranquility. Reports from the First Team are most positive about the potential resources to be found on Asylum. Join the explorers and colonists who will soon set out to make this new Isle their own.

Discover "Next Level" Live Action

The Isles is designed for the mature player who is looking for more comfort, more complexity of plot, and higher production values. Its a simple fact - most live action events fall short of the potential that could be achieved, and we at Asylum Productions are committed to turning that potential into reality.

-------------------------------------------

The Isles campaign, conceived by Ford Ivey, is one of the most open-ended LARP campaigns currently running. While most LARP’s have a single ‘flavor’, i.e. medieval fantasy, gothic horror, techno, etc., The Isles is open to almost any ‘flavor’ you might seek. The first two events have seen everything from Elves, to Gypsies, to Pirates, to Old West Prospectors. The campaign has a detailed production system, which can be a players focus in and of itself if you do not care for combat roles. As far as combat goes, The Isles is run under the basic concepts of the Nteraction LARP system. All manner of standard ‘boffer’ weapons are allowed, assuming they pass a safety check, and there are allowances for archery and firearms.

The campaign has an extensive back history, which can be used to create your character backround. Or, with the approval of the Plot Team, submit your own concept for a race or character concept. There are almost no limits to the scope of The Isles.

We have 4 events planned for the coming year.

May 19-21, July 7-9, Sept 22-24, Nov 17-19

Event prices range from $65 to $85, and this price includes 3 meals.

Our events are held at Ye Olde Commons, in Charlton, MA.

See our website http://www.TheIsles.org for more info
Initial questions may be directed to info@theisles.org

Grand re-opening of the Mortalis Games web site (and Mortalis LARP update)

Recently the online home of Mortalis LARP and Mortalis Games has undergone a remodel and I would like to take a moment to invite you to visit Mortalis Games' new site.

This remodel will provide Mortalis Games with an integrated photo/image gallery, downloads section to better organize our available products as we complete them, a classified ads section so members may sell or trade gear with others once Mortalis LARP is running, and much more functionality than we had before.

We're still doing some set-up work, so please excuse the "dust" and "debris." The site should be fully operational by March 26, including a much improved site skin/theme.

Work is also continuing on Mortalis LARP. The two (and the largest) sections of the rulebook – Magic and Combat, Weapons, and Armor – is continuing. The magic section is about half complete and the combat, weapons, and armor section is about a quarter complete. The goal is to complete these in unison and then release the rulebook to a small, select group of people for proofreading, editing, and clarification before play testing begins.

For more information about Mortalis LARP or Mortalis Games please visit our web site at http://www.mortalisrpg.com.

Greetings and an introduction

Hello. I figured that since I was new to this tribe it would be a good idea to introduce myself. I’ve been a LARPer for over five years and a table top gamer for even longer. Table-top wise I’ve played many, many games and have run my fair share as well. LARP wise I’ve done NERO Alliance, Vampire (Camarilla and non-Camarilla), some Amtgard, and participated in some local LARP groups (both modern horror and fantasy-medieval). I’m also working on a LARP hobby project as well: Mortalis Games (http://www.mortalisrpg.com), a non-profit organization that produces Mortalis LARP and oversees those who have created official chapters. For more about the project I suggest you visit the web site. I look forward to participating in discussions and meeting new people with like interests.

I am now accepting character applications for a new multi-genre Mind's Eye Theatre LARP Chronicle that I am going to be running in Claremont, CA starting in May. The Chronicle will be set in Germany starting in 1676 and players will be allowed to play Mortals, Vampires, Changelings, or Garou at the start of the Chronicle. If interested, please write me for further details on character creation and starting date and location of the Chronicle. If I have a sufficient player base, I will also be accepting applications for assistant storytellers and narrators.
