To Fellow Larpers and Gamers,
We would like to inform you that the Meridian Fest as been postponed until 2007, please see the website, www.meridianfest.com, for more information.
However, we would like to extend this personal invitation to you to join us in a smaller scale test version of Meridian. Many of you in the local LARP community have not only expressed interest in Meridian but have been excited about the prospect of meeting other LARPers in different areas. Many of us enjoyed the new friendships and experiences by meeting each other at the LARPy awards held a few months ago. One thing the LARPy awards did prove was we are a strong community and we enjoy learning from and growing together to strengthening that bond.
Please keep the original dates for Meridian, Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1-4) free, we will be running the Beta Test at that time since we have the time reserved in much of our planning, however due to the "scaled down" version we need to change location and will not have vendors. This run through is to check the system and familiarize folks with the rules and basically play a demo of the world, you know, a Beta Test. That said we are running a plot line for participants to get involved, we are still having guild leaders present and the world will begin to evolve "in game", you and others like yourself, will be the first to break ground in the Meridian world.
The Beta Test price will be $36. This will help cover site cost, food for Saturday night and Sunday morning as well as “in game” currency. Specific to this event, participants will be receiving extra starting money to help “pay” for in game food and beverages. Booking for the Beta Test will be available on line, some time this week. There is a limited amount of space available so bookings are on a first come first serve basis.
It is our expectation to run this game more in line with a typical LARP game/event in order for cast and participants to not only test the system but flesh out characters, role play within the world and participate in a full gaming experience. We are trying to maintain much of the integrity of the original idea of Meridian, so all the rules and regulations still apply unless otherwise noted. That said, we encourage participants to bring and set up period tents, however we will have an “out of game” area for mundane tents to set up. There will also be a tavern where you can redeem your extra starting coins for your Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. The tavern will also have various snacks and drinks throughout the weekend, as well as possibly in game period tents to “rent a room”.
